New Brake Align System

(Richmond, VA November 1, 1999) - Brake Align will change the way modern day brake servicing is performed on most late model cars and light trucks with the introduction of Brake Align Runout Correction Plates.

Brake Align's Runout Correction Plates can save up to 30-45 minutes of labor on the most difficult disc brake services, and elimate lateral run-out, which is the number one complaint of customer comebacks - indicated by brake pedal pulsation or steering wheel shimmy.

"The new Brake Align system offers 'one stop shopping' for thorough brake technicians who want to do the job right the first time," said Tommy Saunders, president of Brake Align. "The Brake Align Runout Correction Plate diagnoses and locates the 'stack-up' of tolerances and error in the spindle, hub, wheel bearings and rotor, and fully corrects for lateral runout. There is no need for additional equipment or capital expenditure."

The new lateral runout correction plates eliminate the need to service vehicles using difficult-to-set-up on-car brake lathes, and take advantage of the accuracy and superior microfinish generated by traditional bench lathes.

Brake Align has assembled a unique starter package to assure shop owners and technicians have everything needed to complete a brake service is on-hand when needed to expedite the job. The starter kit includes a generous assortment of runout correction plates, two Marks-A-Lot® markers, a dial indicator with Vice Grip, an application chart, a hub cleaner, hub cleaner pads and anticorrosive spray.

Installation of the runout correction plates is straightforward. First, remove the rotor from the vehicle and machine on a bench lathe. Next, reinstall the machined rotor onto the vehicle's hub. Check the rotor for runout using the dial indicator with Vise Grip® , and target the high spot, noting the high spot with a marker. Remove the rotor and install the appropriate Brake Align Runout Correction Plate onto the hub the V-notch lined up to the high spot. Now reinstall the rotor, and finish with the brake caliper and wheel installation. The result will be a precision machined rotor well within the manufacturers specifications. Comebacks are eliminated and most importantly, the vehicle will stop safely and smoothly.
